Where your yacht takes you in Playa del Carmen

Where your captain will take you

You leave Puerto Aventuras and head down the Riviera Maya coast. Each block of hours reaches one bay farther south, and with a full day the yacht crosses to Cozumel.

  • Boarding Grand Marina · Puerto Aventuras
  • Duration from 3 h

The coast · 3 hours

  1. Boarding

    Grand Marina · Puerto Aventuras

This is where it starts. Captain and deckhand welcome you aboard, and fuel is already included. Your advisor confirms the exact dock before your day out.

    • Life jackets aboard
  2. Along the way

    The Puerto Aventuras coast

Low cliffs, coconut palms and cenotes spilling into the sea. This is where the Mesoamerican Reef, the world's second largest, begins.

    • Reef
    • Cenotes
    • Coastline
  3. Anchorage

    Caleta La Bocana

A sheltered cove where the water stays still. It's the short anchorage: snorkel gear comes out and you swim without current.

    • Snorkeling
    • Calm water
  4. Anchorage

    Snorkeling stop

The captain picks the shallow spot according to the day's wind. Gear is included and the reef starts just metres below the surface.

With 4 or 5 hours: Xpu-Ha

  1. Anchorage

    Xpu-Ha Bay

A wide bay of very white sand and shallow water, south of Puerto Aventuras. You anchor to swim with the bottom in plain sight.

    • Swimming
    • White sand

With 6 or 7 hours: Akumal

  1. Anchorage

With 8 or 9 hours: Cozumel

  1. The visit

    Palancar Reef

Living coral off Cozumel's south-west coast, part of the island's reef system. Crossing to the island is what justifies the full day.

  2. Sandbank

    El Cielo

A sandbank at Cozumel's southern tip where the water doesn't reach your waist and the bottom is scattered with starfish.

    • Starfish
    • Waist-deep water
    • Photo stop
  3. End of the trip

    Back to the dock

And from there back to the dock you left from. The crew ties up and you step off with the whole day behind you.

    • Same dock
    • End of the day

Your captain adjusts the route to the sea, the wind and the hours you booked. The order can change on the day itself — your group's safety comes first. The Cozumel reefs are a National Park: entering them requires a permitted tender, arranged separately and at extra cost.
